Groceries

We’d push the cart together

Choose on a cauliflower

Who’d get the last piece of kit-kat this time?

Won’t hot chocolate be perfect for wintertime?

Epigamia tastes like mango ice cream, I heard

We’ll buy two, one for me, another for you

We’ll pick out pretty oranges fresh from the aisle

Even if we have enough at home, for a while.

You’ll surprise me with a chocolate bar

You’ll spoil me with wonders of your own

We’ll push the cart together one day

And leave for our home.

Reality is different, said the homeless boy to his partner

Stop with this daydreaming,

We eat from a dumpster

I hate for what you’re becoming.

The girl would often stare through the windowpane

Into the spencer’s showroom, now and then

I’ll push the cart with pretty groceries, one day

She’d dream of it time and time again.
