He blocked my view to the window. The driver was driving very smoothly. I assumed that the next stop would be Lalkuti. I was sitting in the front seat. I could not help worrying where to look at! Whenever I was looking outside through the window, the bus conductor was blocking my view. He unknowingly irritated me to a large extent.
I bought my ticket of 3/- and a small, thin piece of paper was handed over to me. I kept it carelessly inside my bag as if it was of no value to me. However if we think deeply the ticket cost 300 paisa. I was completely lost in my thoughts when I noticed that a man sitting in the front seat was staring at me. ‘Never mind’, I said to myself. I could see him fully. He looked like a coward. His beard unshaven and his clothes seemed as if they were not washed since ages.
I was worrying about the things that might happen in school. For instance, a bomb might explode, a student might commit suicide, I might lose my purse, and so on. I was thinking all sorts of stupid things as I had no other things to think of. I don’t think any other student will think or imagine these stupid things on her way to school at 8.15 in the morning.
As the conductor was standing right in front of me, I noticed that his shirt has green with blue stripes. And as usual it was unclean. The bus made a sudden jerk and I got awakened from my green blue world of unclean shirts! However I noticed that the striped shirt man did not move an inch. He had an incredible balance. ‘He is used to such jerks’, I said to myself.
As I again got busy looking out of the window i noticed that the cell phone of the bus conductor rang...loud enough to wake any sleepy head in the bus. He began,' Hallooo', then 'WHAAT?', and suddenly asked the driver to stop the bus. I saw him get down. He ran across the street like a mad man. I saw him boarding on another bus!
Seeing this, the driver shouted ' OOIH'....and off he went too!!!
'Get back...get back', he cried as he ran after the bus .
I assumed that the chaos or whatever just happened now will make me late for school.I could not afford to get late for school. Others had enough time to sit there and wait for sometime. However I got down and boarded another bus.
I had to buy a ticket of 3/- again.
